Dunkirk
As Spitfire specialists, for Chris Nolan's 2017 epic Dunkirk I was tasked with not only sourcing original and correct cockpit components but also making a number of the cockpit parts. The images here are a selection of some of the items that I provided for the production, some of which were designed to fulfil the brief from them specifically.
Spitfire Throttle
This is the throttle that I built for the in-cockpit scenes. It's not accurate but had to match another unit that had already been filmed. I was sent a number of images to match to.
Spade Grip and switches
The production needed to populate most of a cockpit so I built a complete spade grip with parking brake and brake lever. Also shown here are the original instrument panel swithces 5C/543, the three dimmer switches 5C/367 and the gunsight dimmer switch 5C/847.

I also provided a gun button (brass was requested rather than the period correct aluminium), as well as a number of the instruments.

One of the nicest things I sent over was a beautifully made Sutton harness complete with correct 1940 period release mechanism. I had this made specially and it really was a thing of beauty.
An example of another small part to make the cockit authentic-looking on film. This is the Rolls Royce engine operational limitations etched brass plate. It sits on the right of the cockpit in eyeview of the pilot and is rivetted through the fuselage skin.
Here's a screenshot showing Tom Hardy with our spade grip.
