Beechcraft Model 18
First flown in 1937, and still going strong across the globe today, the Beechcraft Model 18, the Beech 18, or much more popularly known as the Twin Beech, epitomises the design of the early 20th Century with its curved lines alluding to the art deco style. You will often find it finished in stunning polished aluminium.
Beechcraft secured contracts with the US government during WWII and the beautiful Twin Beech evolved into many guises, including the AT-11 trainer with its glass nose and Norden bombsight, bomb doors and dorsal turret. The AT-11 has the honour of being the aircraft that trained the majority of bombardiers and navigators for the USAAF who went on to be crew on the B-17, B-24 and numerous other heavy types.
